Shipping, returns and complaints

Shipping costs and times across Europe, how I pack axes, spearheads and jewellery, 14 days to return without giving a reason, and complaints.

Lead time

I state it on every piece. What I have ready ships in 1–3 working days. Made-to-order pieces I forge from scratch — usually 2–4 weeks — and I confirm the date by e-mail before taking payment.

Shipping cost

Insured courier — DPD. Within Poland from PLN 29, free on orders over PLN 500. To other European Union countries from PLN 199, depending on the country and carrier — full rates below. Complete spears with shafts over 150 cm are quoted individually.

Packing

The axe blade and the spearhead always in a cover, everything in a rigid box with padding that keeps anything from shifting. Jewellery travels in a linen pouch and a box — ready to give as a gift.

Withdrawal from the contract

Fourteen days from receiving the parcel, without giving a reason. You may unpack and examine the piece as you would in a shop. You are liable for any loss in value resulting from handling beyond what is needed to check it. The return shipping cost is borne by the buyer. The right of withdrawal does not apply to items made to your specification — e.g. with a personal engraving.

Complaints

I am liable for conformity of the goods with the contract for two years from delivery. A complaint covers what was in the piece when it was shipped: a material defect, a crack from a defect, a loose axe head, a cracked spearhead socket.

What a complaint does not cover

The effects of use: corrosion from lack of care, chips from striking stone or metal, edge wear, the natural patina of brass and silver. Hammer marks and small irregularities are a sign of hand forging, not a defect.

Price per parcel, regardless of the number of items; next to it the carrier's transit time from dispatch. Within Poland shipping is free on orders over PLN 500. Personal pickup at my forge by appointment — free of charge.

Legal status

Axes and spears in Poland — what is allowed

The Polish Weapons and Ammunition Act lists a closed catalogue of items as “bladed weapons”: blades hidden in objects that do not look like weapons, knuckle-dusters, nunchaku and clubs with a heavy end or imitating a baseball bat. An axe, a spearhead and jewellery are not in this catalogue, so owning them in Poland requires no permit.

That does not mean anything goes. Carrying a sharp tool in a public place without good reason may be treated as an offence, and bringing dangerous objects to mass events is prohibited.

  • I sell sharp items only to people aged 18 or over.
  • Transport: blade covered, packed, in the boot — not “within reach” in the cabin.
  • At shows and re-enactment festivals the organiser's rules apply.
  • Axe throwing is a sport — only at a designated range and with safe distances.
  • Laws differ abroad — check the rules of your own country before ordering.

The above is general information, not legal advice. I describe the legal status to the best of my knowledge — if in doubt, check the current wording of the law.
