Rune pendants and Norse amulets

A pendant with a rune, a bind rune or Thor's hammer is the oldest way of carrying a symbol with you. I hand-forge and engrave amulets in steel, brass and silver — with a chosen Elder Futhark rune, on a natural leather cord or chain.

Runes and bind runes — what they mean

The Elder Futhark is the 24 runes used in Scandinavia from the 2nd to the 8th century. Each had a name and a meaning: Fehu — wealth, Uruz — strength, Algiz — protection, Tiwaz — courage and justice, Othala — home and heritage.

A bind rune is several runes woven into one sign that combines their meanings. The pendant with the bind rune of Ullr, god of the hunt and winter, is an amulet for those who spend a lot of time in the forest and on the road. With every pendant I describe the meaning of its runes.

Thor's hammer — Mjölnir

Miniature Thor's hammers were worn in Scandinavia as protective amulets — archaeologists have found hundreds, from plain iron ones to richly decorated silver. I hand-forge my Mjölnirs keeping the shapes known from excavations.

Frequently asked

Which material should I choose for a pendant?

Steel is the most durable and has a raw, smith-made character. Brass gives a warm golden colour and develops a beautiful patina over time. 925 silver is the most elegant and hypoallergenic.

Can I order a pendant with my own rune or name?

Yes. I'll engrave a chosen rune, bind rune or a name written in the futhark. Tell me what sign or text you want — I'll prepare a design for your approval.

Can I wear the pendant every day?

Yes. Give steel a drop of oil now and then so it doesn't rust; brass and silver darken naturally, and a jeweller's cloth brings back the shine.
