Ullr bind rune pendant

In Norse mythology Ullr was the god of the hunt, winter and archery — patron of those who spend a lot of time in the forest, in the mountains and on the road. Ullr's bind rune joins the runes Uruz (strength), Laguz (flow, water) and Raidho (journey) into one sign.

I forge the pendant from a steel bar and roll the loop into a spiral, as on period amulets. I cut the bind rune by hand with a chisel, so every piece has a slightly different line.

I protect the surface with natural wax. Over time the steel darkens and gains a patina — if you prefer a lighter colour, wipe it now and then with a drop of oil.
