Hrútr Forge — hand-forged axes, spears and jewellery

Behind Hrútr Forge stands one man — me, the blacksmith. Smithing is not a job I fell into but a passion I give every free day at the hearth. Everything in the shop — from a Viking axe to a small rune pendant — comes from under my hammer, with no subcontractors, no casting and no mass production.

Every piece starts as a bar of carbon steel heated to red. The shape comes from the hammer and the smith's hand, not a milling machine, so the forging marks stay on the surface as the signature of the craft, and two pieces of the same design are never identical. I harden the blades, carve the ash hafts, stitch the leather covers and engrave the runes on the jewellery myself.

Hrútr is Old Norse for ram — a stubborn, enduring animal. That is how work goes in my forge: slowly and carefully, until the piece is exactly what it should be. If you are looking for blacksmith-made craft with soul, or want an axe, spearhead or pendant made to your own idea — you have come to the right place.
